The Class A Tree-Hugging Yogi – Part 2

It was the type of night that I had designed my Grecian goddess disco dress for. The print design of the silk fabric was a starry night sky which draped over the body elegantly, letting the imagination paint its own picture, far sexier to conceal than reveal. A gliding comet ready to electrocute the night!

Trotting down Portobello Road, my heart fluttering like a butterfly in a Bell Jar, I clattered through the door of the bar where I easily spotted Vincent waiting patiently at a table in the corner.

He was tall, handsome and slender with the air of the nutty professor about him. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. Over bottles of wine which seemed to replenish as quickly as the mythical never-ending magic porridge pot, we got lost in a super deep, multi-layered wildly cosmic conversation that twisted, slithered and coiled its way between us like a friendly python.

We shared a lot of common ground; a love of Ibiza, (his family had a house there and I had enjoyed a 2-year stint on the magic isle), an interest in the metaphysical, a passion for nature, teenage years at boarding school. His Dad sounded cool, he was away on a meditation retreat in Ibiza and we discovered that we knew some of the same people on the island.

Deciding to move on to another bar, cloaked by the heat of the night we made our way past the wisteria laden white stucco-fronted mansions of Notting Hill. Gently touching my shoulders Vincent ushered me over to the other side of the pavement so that he was on the traffic side. I appreciate these old-school gestures of chivalry and politesse. Romance wasn’t dead after all.
